We’re dedicated to helping you get back to doing what you love—pain-free and with confidence.
REMEDIAL & SPORTS MASSAGE
Remedial massage treatments focus on detecting and deactivating trigger points within the muscular system that have developed due to sports injuries, accidents, poor posture, repetitive strain, or the stresses of daily life and demanding work environments. These trigger points can lead to chronic muscle tension, localized pain, or referred discomfort in other parts of the body. In addition to physical causes, muscle tightness and soreness are often a result of emotional stress, which can have a significant impact on the body's natural mobility and function.
At Albert Park Sports & Spinal, we understand how frustrating and limiting it can be to live with ongoing pain, and we recognise the effect it can have on both physical performance and emotional wellbeing. Whether it’s a lingering sports injury, postural dysfunction from desk work, or general tension from stress, our goal is to help alleviate discomfort and improve your quality of life.
Our Remedial and Sports Massage Therapists take the time to assess each individual’s condition, identify areas of dysfunction, and apply tailored massage techniques to target the root cause of pain—not just the symptoms. They are trained in a variety of methods including deep tissue massage, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and stretching to release tension, restore mobility, and support muscular recovery.

DRY NEEDLING | KINESIO TAPING
Dry needling is a modern treatment technique that also uses fine, sterile needles; however, unlike acupuncture, which is based on meridian theory, dry needling targets specific points in muscles called myofascial trigger points—tight bands that can cause pain, reduced mobility, and dysfunction. The goal is to elicit a local twitch response by inserting the needle into the trigger point. This reflex helps release muscle tension, reduce pain, and restore biochemical balance at the neuromuscular junction. In healthy muscle, insertion is often painless, while active trigger points may produce a cramping or deep ache. The result is typically reduced pain and improved function.
Kinesio Taping is a therapeutic taping method that supports muscles and joints during movement and recovery without limiting range of motion. Its elastic quality allows for freedom of movement while gently lifting the skin to aid lymphatic flow, increase circulation, and reduce pressure on pain receptors. Used to manage a wide range of orthopaedic, neuromuscular, and musculoskeletal issues—such as sprains, strains, and postural problems—Kinesio Taping also prolongs the benefits of hands-on treatments like massage and dry needling, enhancing the body’s healing process between sessions.
OSTEOPATHY
Our Osteopaths at Albert Park Sports & Spinal understand that changes in the delicate balance of the neuro-musculo-skeletal system and its circulatory components can result in pain, leading to decreased flexibility and mobility. We’ve found that such changes are most commonly caused by physical strain or injury, but may also stem from aspects of lifestyle, poor posture, or psychological stress. Osteopaths treat structural imbalances in the body and can potentially help people of all ages suffering from pain related to their work environment, active lifestyle, or the sporting field.
Often, these changes occur gradually, without producing obvious symptoms at first—just a vague sense of discomfort, fatigue, or feeling out of condition, which may worsen over time if left unaddressed.
This treatment approach is both preventative and restorative. Our Osteopaths take a holistic view of the body’s interconnected systems, treating a wide range of patients and conditions. They are best known for their structural and hands-on approach to addressing musculo-skeletal issues, aiming to restore balance, function, and long-term wellbeing through personalised, evidence-informed care.
SHOCKWAVE THERAPY
Shockwave therapy works using a high-intensity sound wave that interacts with the tissues of the body, leading to beneficial effects such as neovascularisation (new blood vessel growth), reversal of chronic inflammation, stimulation of collagen, and dissolution of calcium build-up. These mechanisms work on tissues in the following ways. Firstly, an increase in blood flow is necessary to start and maintain the repair process of the damaged tissue structure. New blood flow brings well-needed oxygen and nutrients to the damaged tissue, most notably mast cells. Mast cells act to facilitate the body’s inflammatory response and in turn halt chronic inflammation by providing a healing environment. Collagen is also stimulated, which is vital in the regenerative process of an injured tissue and essential for restoring structural integrity. As the injured tissues return to normal, functionality is restored, pain is relieved, and quality of movement improves significantly.
Dolorclast Radial Shockwave Therapy is useful in the treatment of pain related to a variety of chronic musculoskeletal conditions including Tennis Elbow, Plantar Fasciitis, Golfers Elbow, Achilles Tendinopathy, and Gluteal Tendinopathy, as well as other tendon or soft tissue-related issues.
